Reports

Hastings Priory U12 106 for 6 from 20 overs. Crowhurst Park U12 43 all out from 15.4 overs. Hastings Priory won by 63 runs.

Crowhurst Park won the toss and elected to field on a sunny Sunday morning at Telham. Openers Jake Woolley (10) and L. Hooper (23) started aggressively, before Lawrence Wond (1-16) produced a beauty to bowl Woolley and Nick Peters caught Hooper at deep square. Leo Torr batted superbly before retiring on 33, but the run rate slowed as the bowling and fielding improved. Chris Ford (1-6), Ivan Flanagan and Nick Peters (1-3) all bowled tightly. Wicket keeper Philip Benge took two catches and Henry Legg (2-11) looked dangerous. Louis Martin pitched the ball up and spun it, Will Phelps was miserly and Harry Tugwell picked up the wicket of B. Clifton. Priory made 106 and Park were in with a chance.

Priory bowled very well from the start, H. Foster (1-4) was quick and accurate. J. O’Brien and J. Milton were hard to get away and the required run rate soared. Cameron Flanagan hit a decent 15, but a combination of indifferent running between the wickets costing three run outs and an excellent spell from R. Curtis (3-8) put too much pressure on the lower order. Benge scored 6 before being accidentally stumped. Henry Legg, County Joinery (South East) Ltd. man of the match came in to hammer a boundary but 2-12 from Liam McLean finished off proceedings, Priory winning comfortably by 63 runs.

Hellingly U12 111 for 3 from 20 overs. Crowhurst Park U12 72 for 8 from 20 overs. Hellingly won by 29 runs.

Crowhurst Park won the toss and elected to field on a sunny evening in Hellingly. Cameron Flanagan, Jessie Dave, Chris Ford and Josh Goodsell bowled tightly to restrict Hellingly to 26 for no wicket from 9 overs. W. Hook lifted the pace before retiring on 30. Nick Peters ran M .Payne out for 10 and J. Beetie also played an aggressive innings retiring on 33. Louis Martin bowled N. Mattias for 7 and delivered a spell of excellent leg spin.

Cameron Flanagan (13) defended the fast bowling of Hook and Payne whilst keeping the score ticking over. Contributions from Nick Peters (4) and Jessie Dave (5) kept Park in the game. Consistent bowling from Hellingly began to tell as wickets fell to J. Beetie (1-6), W. Hook (1-6), J. Funnell (3-5) H. Chatfield (1-5), M. Wilson (1-1) and D. Devilla (1-2). Ivan Flanagan scored 6 and Louis Martin finished on 6 not out, but the total was too much and Hellingly ran out winners by 29 runs.

Bexhill U16 111 for 5 in 20 overs. Crowhurst Park U16 112 for 5. Crowhurst Park won by 5 wickets.

Bexhill won the toss and elected to bat first. Crowhurst Park took a quick wicket putting the pressure on Bexhill, but an excellent partnership between G. Johnson (19) and R. Tomkinson (21) putting on 50, before David Seymour (2-30) came back into the attack. Bexhill closed on 111 for 5. Crowhurst Park's innings started well, with Adam Murphy (15) and Jamie Bristow-Diamond (33) putting on 51 for the first wicket, but the pressure was back on Crowhurst Park after losing two quick wickets, before David Seymour (15 not out) and Ollie Janman (8 not out) guided Crowhurst Park past the Bexhill score of 111, to win by 5 wickets. Count Joinery (South East) Ltd man of the match was David Seymour.

Crowhurst Park U13 107 for 7 from 20 overs. Battle U13 100 all out from 20 overs. Crowhurst Park won by 7 runs.

Crowhurst Park lost the toss and were put into bat on a damp pitch at Battle. This did not put off Ed Smissen who smashed the ball around the ground for 33 quick runs before retiring. James MacIntyre was run out without scoring and A. Barton (2-5) removed Quentin Wedmore and Will Phelps (6). Cameron Flanagan came in to score a swift 16 followed by his brother Ivan, knocking 15 and keeping the run rate going. The bowling became more accurate and scoring slowed with Henry Legg making a contribution with 6. E. Lampitt (1-31), J. Chrisford (1-8) and H. Haines-Spice (1-12) all picked up a wicket as Park made 107 in total.

Battle had a difficult start as opener Ben Riley (4-11) created surprising bounce from a wet track and took the first four wickets to fall, leaving Battle reeling on 26-4. Oz Wedmore played a great innings to haul Battle back into contention with J. Chrisford (9) and H. Haines-Spice (14) batting solidly so that the target was always within sight. Some risky running and panic in the field yielded a few more runs but two wickets for Isaac Andrews (2-28), one for Will Phelps (1-10) and Ivan Flanagan (1-15), with a couple of run outs, meant the total just eluded Battle, who made a great effort after a disastrous start, Park winning by a mere 7 runs.

Seaford U12 89 for 5 from 20 overs. Crowhurst Park U12 90 for 6 from 19 overs. Crowhurst Park won by 4 wickets.

Crowhurst Park won the toss and elected to field on a beautiful pitch at The Salts in Seaford. Cameron Flanagan created accurate in-swing and bowled C. Pope for 8. Will Phelps bowled tightly and more wickets fell as Josh Goodsell (2-15) bowled fantastic leg spin to have C. Cooper brilliantly caught by Phelps at short cover and N. Wright caught behind by Nick Peters. K. Loader played superbly for 33 retired, constructing a series of partnerships and helping Seaford to build a useful score of 89. J. Ross was run out from a direct hit by Ivan Flanagan and P. Kidling was caught behind off Harry Tugwell.

Park responded quickly with 25 from 4 overs. An accomplished innings from Philip Benge (18), playing superbly off his legs, with great support from Tugwell (8). Seaford fielded well to keep the score down and once B. Brown (1-2) had bowled Benge and J. Ross (1-21) pinned Tugwell lbw, P. Kidling (3-5) bowled superbly to create a mini-collapse. Ivan Flanagan (14) turned the game with 12 in one over and Cameron Flanagan (26 not out) smashed the ball around to finish the job with Goodsell on 4 not out, Park winning by 4 wickets. County Joinery (South East) Ltd. man of the match went to Josh Goodsell for an excellent bowling spell.

Crowhurst Park U12 82 for 6 from 20 overs. Little Common U12 73 for 7 from 20 overs. Crowhurst Park won by 9 runs.

Little Common won the toss and elected to field. An opening partnership of 16 saw Lawrence Wond (20) play a fine innings with shots all round the ground. Will Phelps (4) offered good support before he was caught off the bowling of P. Pope, who proved the most successful of the Little Common bowlers, removing Will Coates and Jonty Poulter in quick succession. Dom Simmons (18 not out) came in to play beautifully, hitting the ball very hard, particularly to leg. Harry Tugwell (14 not out) joined him for a thirty run partnership that provided the foundation of the innings. Wickets were taken by N. Richardson (1-9), A. Donaldson (1-8) and G. Craythorpe (1-12).

Some great seam bowling from Wond (2-3) saw him bowl 2 of the first 4 batsmen within the first 4 overs. With a run out and Will Phelps (1-3) chipping in, Little Common were struggling on 7-4. Excellent bowling from Jessie Dave and Will Coates kept the pressure on. A brilliant 45 run partnership brought them back into the game with G. Craythorpe (11) and D. Maynard (28) applying themselves and playing some excellent shots. At 63 for 5 Little Common had a great chance until Steven Benge (2-13) came on to bowl Maynard and B. Nichol. Donaldson scored 9 but the chase finished just short, Park winning by 9 runs. County Joinery (South East) Ltd. Man of the match was Lawrence Wond.

Crowhurst Park III 208 for 7 in 40 overs Little Common III 159 all out in 39.1 overs. Crowhurst Park won by 49 runs.

Crowhurst Park were put into bat in a 40 over friendly against local rivals Little Common, both teams fielding plenty of junior talent. Nick Taylor (62) proved the mainstay of the Park innings moving the ball around the field and making many runs from his trademark cut shot. After two early wickets from J. Croft (3-39), who moved the ball in and away during two great spells, Ed Smissen hit 48 from 41 deliveries to put Park in the driving seat. T. Seabrook (1-31), N. Westwood (1-24) and G. Pudney (1-14) picked up a wicket apiece before Nyle Ahmed joined Taylor to thrash 37 from 44 balls, closely followed by Lawrence Flint with 31 from 37, taking the total to an impressive 208, all runs scored by players under 17.

Little Common started well with J. James (36) and J. Hickman (47) putting on a 60 run partnership after I. Turner was caught by Chris Pigram off Smissen (2-6). Hickman played extremely well and continued to support the other batsmen as wickets eventually fell. Lawrence Flint came on to bowl 3 players in one over, making the chase near impossible. N. Westwood made 17 and a late flurry from Lloyd Stickells (21 not out) made the score very respectable, as Matt Peters and Jon Peters took a wicket, Smissen and Flint added one each and Alan Coates returned to remove Pudney lbw and wrap the game up.

Willingdon U15 45 all out. Crowhurst Park U15 46 for 1. Crowhurst Park won by 9 wickets.

Crowhurst Park won the toss and bowled out Willingdon for 45 runs, with Curtis Coombes taking 4 for 5 in a magnificent spell. Jack Harris took 3 for 6 as Park rattled through the opposition. The runs came with only one wicket falling, Coombes again starring with 24 not out, joined by Nick Taylor on 20. Park won by 9 wickets, with County Joinery (South East) Ltd. Man of the match going to Coombes.
Match Report for Crowhurst Park U15 vs. Newhaven U15 Friday 23rd May 2008 at Newhaven.

Hastings Priory U12 142 for 4 from 20 overs. Crowhurst Park U12 87 for 4 from 20 overs.

Hastings Priory won by 55 runs.

Hastings Priory elected to bat on a sunny late afternoon at Horntye Park. J. Woolley (32 retd.) and H. Bradbury (22) started steadily. Openers Cameron Flanagan and Nick Peters bowled tightly with second pairing Harry Tugwell and Chris Ford keeping up the pressure as Priory made 28 from 7 overs. Priory upped the pace and proceeded to score 114 from the next 13 overs. Dropped catches and poor groundwork made Priory’s job easier, though more strong attacking play from H. Foster and E. Hooper amassed a healthy total. Josh Goodsell bowled Bradbury in the 12th over, Louis Martin had J. Milton caught for 7 and Billy Downes had Hooper caught by Tugwell.
Crowhurst Park had given away 40 too many but set about the target with patience. Chris Ford was bowled by L. Torr early on but Cameron Flanagan (32 retd.) took the game to the opposition playing some lovely back foot drives. Nick Peters (5) and Laurence Wond (10 not out) offered good support, as Ivan Flanagan (22) also hammered the bowlers. Despite this, Park ran out of overs and Priory deserved their win by 55 runs.
